Chronology of cameras Polaroid
The Polaroid I-Zone was designed to give instant photographs barely bigger than postage stamps and adhesive (depending on the film type) like these.
Presented at PMA 2001, the Combo is the result of risky coupling of this unit and a digital camera in its simplest form
On a conventional I-Zone (renamed Instant Combo ) has been grafted a digital I-Zone ( the Digital Combo ) with 300,000 pixels (640 x 480) of resolution and 1Mb of memory , without a display screen and without a removable memory card.
Aside from the power supply which is common, both cameras are fully separated.
Each has its own viewfinder, flash, shutter and lens ; Analog I- Zone is held horizontally , the digital one vertically.
Both cameras have a LED near their respective viewfinder to indicate the full charge of the flash.
A switch allows you to choose which camera you want to use . The Digital Combo has a power on button supported by a LED located above the viewfinder, a frame counter on a small LCD display and a jack to connect a cable to transfer digital views via a serial port. You can not delete the images in memory from the camera itself.
One may ask how this camera or rather this pair of cameras with tortured design has been out of the Polaroïd R&D office and visually the result reminds me these fungi that grow on dead logs in the forest. The analogy with the growing digital at the expense of the film was coming to me later.
According of its aesthetics and its price ($ 100 to its release ) , too expensive in relation to the capabilities of the two cameras, I doubt it had much success.
